Mission Statement:


is a Denver-based 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to providing flights to medical facilities throughout the United States, for all people in need of Medical Care, whether it be routine in nature, critical or life-saving. Our goal is to provide humanitarian assistance to patients without the financial capability and resources to facilitate this travel for themselves.

Q. Can I fly anywhere in the United States?
A. Yes.  Footprints in the Sky provides flights to most airports within the United States.

Q. Can I bring my family?
A. Yes. In most cases you are allowed to bring up to 3 family members. If no immediate family is available, you may bring one non-family member for assistance.

Q. Is there a charge for my flight?
A. There is a $35.00 application fee only, however, there is no cost to the patient for the actual flight. We are a tax-exempt organization and are 100% funded by donations/grants. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Q. What if I need oxygen on the flight?
A. We do not provide any medically-specific, life-sustaining equipment. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) prohibits passengers from carrying any oxygen storage device such as a tank on any US-registered jet aircraft. However, a patient is permitted to carry on - and use - a battery-operated oxygen concentrator.   

Q. Are flights immediately available?
A. We will start our search for a flight as soon as a patient's eligibility has been determined. Although we have several hundred options available to us each day, date and destination-specific flights may take anywhere from one hour to one week to locate.  The possibility always exists that we will not find a flight within the time-frame of the patient's medical treatments. This is why we recommend that each patient make back-up travel arrangements. When possible, we try to assist with the back-up process.

Q. Will ground transportation be arranged from the airport to the hospital or hotel?
A. No. We do not provide ground transportation for the patient, either at the departure or destination airports. This is the responsibility of the patient. We can provide partial assistance by recommending car rentals or hotels at the destination city.

Q. After my treatments, how do I get home?
A. If you need a return flight, advise us as soon as possible and we will start our search.

Q. Is there a charge for the flight home?
A. No.

Q. Are meals provided?
A. We can provide meals. However, there may be a charge to the patient. This request must be submitted 48 hours before the flight.

Q. Is there lodging assistance available?
A. Yes. Typically, your hospital will have information and social workers to assist you in this regard. Many hotels also apply discounts for patients.

Q. How much luggage can I bring on board the aircraft?
A. Most corporate/business aircraft can accommodate one carry-on, plus one overnight bag, per person.

Q. How can I make a donation for a flight?
A. Donations may be made in the form of Cash, Check or through PayPal, on this website.

Q. Is there any medical assistance provided by Footprints in the Sky on any of your flights?

A. No. Our donated aircraft are not medically-equipped to provide any type of medical service.

Q. Do you provide tickets on commercial airlines?

A. No. However, we are working on this idea and may at some point in the future provide these tickets as a possible alternative to our donated business aircraft.
