Sebastian

"Hello, my name is Sebastian, I have been diagnosed with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, Severe Scoliosis, and Bilateral Vocal Cord Paralysis since birth; therefore I am tracheotomy dependent. I was in need of a tracheal reconstruction surgery which entails lots of delicate work including taking part of my rib and implant it on my trachea.

I was referred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for a second opinion by my orthopedic doctor. Unfortunately, Cincinnati is 12 hours away from home. Fortunately, my mom contacted Footprints in the Sky because our resources are very limited, and they were able to fly us there at no cost.  I flew in a private Jet for the first time and it was AWESOME! Not only because it was just us on the plane, but because my immune system was not compromised at all.

I will always thank Footprints in the Sky because they made my dream come true. The specialty doctor in Cincinnati determined that I did not need reconstructive surgery because my vocal cords ARE NOT PARALYZED after all!

Thank you Footprints in the Sky from the bottom of my heart!"

Alexandra

A Jet donated by Club Jet Charter, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota allowed us to help a young mother named Alexandra and her 2 year old son travel from the New York area to Cincinnati and its Children's Hospital for treatment.

Alexandra was overwhelmed by the generosity of so many people volunteering with FOOTPRINTS.  "Footprints in the Sky was able to fly us on a private charter jet to receive a life-saving surgery for my son--despite our limited resources.  This service ensured that my child's immune system would not be compromised.  Thank you!"

Courtney

It was late in the evening when a call came into FOOTPRINTS in the SKY. The caller, a woman named Tami, is obviously hurting and seemingly out of answers. Her 22 year old daughter, Courtney, is lying in a University of Colorado hospital and hoping for a flight to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. This is where Dr. Montgomery and his surgical team wait in readiness to perform a life-saving transplant procedure.

FOOTPRINTS in the SKY, in conjunction with Aero Angel, was able to provide a donated corporate jet to transport Courtney and her mother to Baltimore and ultimately, a successful surgery.

Maggie

This is the sad story of seven month old Maggie, whose fight to survive was hampered by severe brain damage, sustained during a six-week premature birth brought forward by a placental abruption. Maggie’s journey was heartbreakingly difficult and she lived from surgery to surgery, connected to tubes and wires twenty-four hours a day. Her parents gave up everything to stay by her side in an attempt to help her hold onto life, but soon it was obvious she was slipping away despite their loving vigil. It was time to bring her home to Illinois where family and friends were gathering to say their goodbyes to the precious baby.

There was no money for air transportation, but fortunately, FOOTPRINTS in the SKY was contacted and was able to make arrangements for a donated flight to Illinois for Maggie and her parents. It would be Maggie’s first and last Thanksgiving and Christmas with her beloved family.
